Spearheaded by activist-writer Mahasweta Devi and Tushar Talukdar (ex-police commissioner, Calcutta), 3,000 postcards were printed, stamped and distributed by Seagull for signatures by concerned individuals. The postcards demanded the President’s active intervention in ending the atrocities in Gujarat post the Godhra riots. The All India Muslim Student’s Federation reprinted 3,000 such postcards as part of the same effort. The postcards(both in English and Bengali) were offered to anybody wishing to take part in this campaign.
