The PeaceWorks Festival titled, Thoda Pyar Thoda Peace, was held using theatre, photography, music and film workshops to stimulate creative expressions of social concern. These workshops were held through September and October 2008 and culminated in performances, exhibitions, and public service advertising campaigns that ran throughout the city from November 7 – 9, 2008. For 3 whole days the city was flooded with schoolchildren, from classes 9 to 12, participated and expressed their thoughts on how to make Peace Work.
The Photography Exhibition was held at La Martiniere for Boys from the 7 to 9 November, 2008.
Films were shown at Metro stations, courtesy the Metro Railway, and Plasmas at South City Mall. They were also shown on TV Southasia, Tara News and Tara Music.
Theatre in the form of street plays were performed in different locations in the city on 7 and 8 November, 2008.
Music, courtesy Saregama India Ltd, featured a workshop with Bickram Ghosh, resulting in the collective creation of a musical theme which was performed at the closing ceremony
The Closing Ceremony was held on November 9, 2008, at La Martiniere for Boys. The ceremony showcased the street plays, films and music created by the children. Ms Usha Uthup was the Guest of Honour and Mr Sunirmal Chakraborty, Principal of La Martiniere for Boys, was the Chief Guest.
