Kossi Efoui was born at Anfoin, Togo, in 1962. After studying philosophy at the University of Lomé, he was forced into political exile for his opposition to the regime and now lives in France. His plays are performed throughout Africa and Europe. In 2009, his third novel, Solo d un revenant won the prestigious Kourouma Prize.
