In this collection of essays, written over the last 25 years, veteran artist K. G. In turns questioning, critical, forewarning and instructive, these essays well from the artist’s own observations, readings, experiences and insights as artist, adviser, teacher, student and citizen of a world fast losing sight of its roots as its head struggles to keep par with the relentless pace of progress set by other worlds and other pressures.

K. G. Subramanyan is a veteran artist who has worked with a wide range of media and materials, exhibiting extensively both within and outside the country. A major retrospective of his work was held at the National Gallery of Modern Art, Delhi, in 2003. He has been part of the arts faculty at Baroda and is Professor Emeritus at Kala Bhavan, Santiniketan. His writings on art have been published widely.
