Dr Robi Chakravorti has had a distinguished career as a journalist in India and a Professor of Sociology in an American University. He was an Assistant Editor with the Amrita Bazar Patrika in 1965 before he left India for good and began living in the US as an academic Sociologist. He has continued to keep his journalistic self active by writing regularly for Indian papers and magazines, in particular the Economic and Political Weekly and Frontier in the days it was edited by the late journalist Samar Sen.
